The founder of SkinData Ltd, Dr Shuting Hu, did her PhD and postdoc at HKU on molecular pathways and new ingredients for skin whitening, thinking academia would be her future. And it might have been had it not been for the foresight of her supervisor, Dr Mingfu Wang of the School of Biological Sciences.

Dr. Philip Tong Awarded Young Dermatologist Symposium in 2016 TDA-ASPCR Conference

Dr. Philip Tong Awarded Young Dermatologist Symposium for his presentation "Imaging Skin: From Bench to Bedside (and Beyond)" on behalf of SkinData in 42th Annual Meeting of TDA (Taiwanese Dermatological Association) & 8th Annual Meeting of ASPCR (Asian Society for Pigment Cell Research).
The theme of this year’s meeting is “Photomedine, Photobiology and Pigmentary Disorders.” We are proud to present many world-renowned scholars to give lectures in their area of expertise related to our theme. From pathogenetic, therapeutic, and aesthetic approaches, speakers demonstrated how to appreciate translational studies from bench to bedside that can bring great impact on how we treat diseases and practice medicine.

SkinData awarded Technology Start-up Support Scheme (TSSSU) of HKU

TSSSU@HKU aims to promote entrepreneurship at the University by transforming ideas into business operations with the maximum annual amount of $1.2 million that will be awarded to successful applicants. A start-up can be supported by TSSSU for a maximum of 3 years.
SkinData passed several selections and became an awardee of TSSSU 2016 financial year.

Dr. Shuting HU from Hong Kong Society of Cosmetic Chemist Won Henry Maso Award 2013

Congratulations to Dr. Shuting Hu from the Hong Kong Society, winner of the 2013 Henry Maso Award for her paper "Activity and mechanism of natural resorcinol type phenolics from the twigs of Cudrina trieuspidata as skin whitening agents". Dr. Shuting’s prize is an all expenses paid trip and registration for the next IFSCC Congress in Paris, France from 27-30 October 2014, where she will also be presented with her illuminated scroll. The Award is given at IFSCC Conferences to the best scientific paper given by an author, normally under the age of 40, who has submitted a full paper for consideration for the Award.
